Sandy Ridge is a beautiful place to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There are more than 15 miles worth of trails for all skill levels. From easy flow runs to expert-level climbs, and technical descents, there is something for everyone.

The International Mountain Biking Association and the Northwest Oregon BLM District Office created the Sandy Ridge Trail System. The system has 17 miles of trails. It is well-known for its technical features and high exposure. This system has both singletrack as well as machine-built beginner-level and advanced trails.

The mountain biking trail is open all year and is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country. Since its 2009 opening, many improvements have been made. These improvements include a new bike area, an expanded parking space, and a hub for bicycles. Another feature of the project is a designated event area.

In addition to the new bike demo area, the existing parking area will be repurposed for permitted trailhead events. This will eliminate the need for a large amount of parking spaces and allow for better accommodations. The existing entrance will include a safety feature, security, art, and other modifications.

Sandy Ridge Trailhead Access includes two trails connecting to it. They will connect to the existing parking lot and a bike hub. At the entrance to the trailhead, a bus stop will be located to allow riders to easily get to the trail. There will be sculptures and art. The Sandy Ridge Trail System, located on Mount Hood's west side, offers riders of all abilities and ages a variety of experiences. There are over 15 miles worth of machine-built and unbuilt trails.

The system sits on top a 70 million year-old kaolin-clay clay bed. The area was once a wetland before the Sandy Ridge Trail System was created. Eventually, it reverted to its natural state.
